Croatia is carrying on with the construction of modern roads. Recently, two new motorway sections were opened: a 9.8 km long section in Dalmatia (Račva-Vrgorac) on the motorway A1 Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik and a 50 km long section of the Istrian Y in Istria, from Kanfanar to Umag.

National Geographic`s Traveler magazine has included Croatia on its list of top cruise destinations and life travels for 2011. More precisely, it is a cruise on wooden sailboats, which is considered by the Traveler`s reporter Margaret Loftus to be `so retro and so Mediterranean`. Each year the Traveler publishes a list of the top 50 trips one should take at least once in their lifetime. Dubrovnik has recently been linked by air to Athens and from the beginning of June until the end of September it will be air linked with Moscow. An aircraft of the Croatian national air carrier Croatia Airlines will connect Dubrovnik and the capital of Greece three times a week: on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Dubrovnik will also be linked with the main Moscow airport Šeremetjevo three times a week. The aircraft of the Russian national air carrier Aeroflot will be flying on this line on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
