The special hospital for medical rehabilitation Varaždinske Toplice, should become one of the leading centres of health tourism in the southeast Europe region with the reconstruction of the existing capacities and the construction of new hotel and medical facilities. Hotel Doubletree by Hilton should open its doors in Zagreb in October of this year. This hotel brand of the well known luxury hotel chain Hilton will be located in the Green Gold skyscraper complex, which will have offices, shops, gastronomic and entertainment facilities on around 80000 square metres. A four star boutique hotel Vela Vrata recently opened on the once favourite promenade of the Istrian town Buzet. The hotel was created by joining up and renovating of old buildings in the historical town core, while the construction works were overlooked by conservators. The hotel has 18 contemporary designer rooms and three apartments. Every room is furnished individually featuring a combination of antique and custom made furniture. Croatian wines have once again confirmed their quality by receiving 40 medals and 25 recommendations by the world`s most famous expert wine magazine Decanter, which is 11 awards more than last year. The best graded Croatian wines were Bodren Bodren ice vintage 2009, which received the most prestigious award – the regional trophy, and Krauthaker Graševina, the chosen harvest of dried grapes in 2009, which won the gold medal.

Zagreb’s position on the world map of congress tourism is rising. This is best shown through data of the International Congress and Convention Association, by which the main Croatian city has gone from 171st to 79th place on the list of 309 cities as world congress destinations. According to this data, Zagreb holds an even better, 42nd position, on the European list, by the number of organized conventions last year among 159 European convention destinations.
